NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Six La Salle lacrosse players earned postseason honors from the Atlantic 10, as announced by the conference today.

La Salle's honorees include seniors Rachel Baker and Megan Corliss and junior Melanie Sarcinello on the All-Conference Second Team and freshman Claire Andrews andCaitlyn Brostrand on the All-Rookie Team.  Voting was conducted by the league's head lacrosse coaches.

Sarcinello and junior Jackie Roebuck also earned places on the A-10 All-Academic team.

Baker, a senior defender, led La Salle this year with 16 caused turnovers.  A consistent leader on defense, the Montclair, N.J. native also served as a team captain for the Explorers this season.

Corliss posted a 10.26 goals against average this season, which is third-best all-time in a single season at La Salle.  The Blue Bell, Pa. native received three A-10 Defensive Player of the Week awards this season.  Corliss graduates as the all-time saves leader at La Salle (459), a record she broke during La Salle's overtime win over Duquesne this season.  She also has the most minutes between the pipes ever by a La Salle keeper (2,962:10). 

Sarcinello led the Explorers in points this season with 39.  She was second on the team in scoring with 33 goals and also controlled a team-high 38 draws, which is fifth-best all-time in a single season at La Salle.  A nursing major, this is Sarcinello's second straight selection to the A-10 All-Academic Team.

Brostrand finished first on the team in scoring with 36 goals on the season.  This is the third-highest single-season total for a freshman in La Salle history, behind Emily Bonczek (2005; 57) and Jami Wilus (1999; 43).  The Runnemede, N.J. native added a career-high five goals against Richmond this season.  She was named the A-10's Rookie of the Week twice in 2012.

Andrews finished fourth on the team in scoring as a rookie, with 25 goals to her name.  A native of Arnold, Md., she added a career-high five goals against Iona and also received two A-10 Rookie of the Week nods this season.

Roebuck, who is receiving her first All-Academic Team nod, added 15 goals and seven assists to finish fifth on the Explorers in total points this season.  The Broomall, Pa. native is majoring in education.
