Ewertsen Leads Three Lacrosse All-Ivy League Selections
5/10/2016

Princeton, N.J. - The Columbia women's lacrosse team received three selections to the All-Ivy League teams, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, May 4. Lindsey Ewertsen becomes the first rookie in program history to earn first-team honors for the Lions. Junior midfielder Taylor Quinnearned her third consecutive second-team nod, and is joined by sophomore attacker Victoria Kalamaras, who received her first All-Ivy selection.

The first-year, Ewertsen, led a high-powered Lions offense, that finished second in the Ancient Eight in scoring, with a team-high 32 goals combined with eight assists for 40 points in her Columbia debut. Ewertsen’s 32 goals ranks second most by a rookie in program history. The New Jersey native was a model of aggression on the field, collecting a team-high 50 draw controls, the second-most in the Ivy League. She also adds an impressive number of 20 caused turnovers and the second-highest total of ground balls in the Ivy League with 36, only trailing her veteran teammate Quinn, who lead the league for the second-straight year with 42.

Quinn added a stellar junior campaign to her already impressive career for the Lions this season. Along with once again leading the Ivy with 42 groundballs, Quinn’s all-around effort of  31 points (26g, 5a), 38 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers helped propel the Lions to its best overall record since 2010. Her current career total of 129 ground balls ranks third on Columbia’s all-time list, while her career total of 141 draw controls ranks second.

Kalamaras put together a historic season in her sophomore campaign, as she lead Columbia in scoring with 44 points. With 24 goals and a team-high 20 assists, Kalamaras became the third player in program history to tally 20+ in both categories in a season (Kacie Johnson, 2011-12 & Marisa Marcellino, 2006-07). She is also one of two players to reach this benchmark in the Ivy League this year. As one the Lions marquee playmakers, Kalamaras’s 20 assists ranks fourth best on Columbia’s single-season list.

"I'm really pleased with the progress we've made this season," said head coach Andrea Cofrin.

"Lindsey is one of the fastest players in the league and she really made a name for herself with her dynamic play. Victoria really stepped up her game in her sophomore year and continued building her confidence as the season went on. Taylor works incredibly hard and is one of the best all around players you will find."

"I'm grateful for all the hard work and time our senior class put into this program and I'm extremely excited about the foundation we built for the future."
